Energy & Vitality
Testosterone is often framed as exclusively a male hormone, but women produce it too β in smaller amounts, but with real physiological importance for energy, muscle maintenance, mood, and libido. Levels decline gradually with age and more sharply around menopause.
Because standard hormone panels for women rarely include testosterone by default, low levels frequently go undetected. Symptoms like persistent fatigue, reduced motivation, low libido, and difficulty maintaining muscle mass are often attributed to other causes, or simply written off as normal aging.
When low testosterone is identified and appropriately addressed under physician supervision, some women report meaningful improvements in energy and overall sense of vitality. Dosing for women is a fraction of typical male doses, and monitoring matters β this isn't a treatment to pursue without lab-guided supervision.
If you've been told your labs are 'normal' but still don't feel like yourself, it may be worth specifically asking whether testosterone was part of what was tested.
